Sitting on a slightly smaller wheelbase, 117.2 inches, than its Continental cousin, this 1969 Lincoln-Continental Mark III, #9Y89A888218, Model number 89A, 2-door, hard-top coupe was a personal luxury car of the long-hood, short-deck tradition like the Mark I. Among the many standard features were individually adjustable front seats, front and rear folding arm rests, "Flow-Thru" ventilation system and rear reading lamps. The Lincoln Continental Mark III was manufactured by Lincoln from 1968 to 1971. The Mark III was introduced to compete with Cadillac's front wheel drive Eldorado personal luxury coupe, which at the time had the monopoly in the personal luxury car market, a dominance it never relinquished. The Mark III was the first Lincoln Continental produced by Lincoln itself since its predecessor had been manufactured as a Continental, a separate Ford division apart from Lincoln.
