This Model 40 rumble seat roadster sits on a 112 inch wheelbase and is powered by a 221 cubic inch, 90 degree V, L-head, 8 cylinder engine with a 3.06 bore and 3.75 stroke and was rated at 85 Hp at 3800 rpm. This 1934 Ford Model 40 Roadster had a factory price of $525.
In March of 1932 the Ford Motor Company introduced the new Model 40 V8. In 1933 Ford changed to aluminum heads which added more compression, 10 more horsepower, and also improved the ignition and cooling, making the engine more reliable. Improvements such as the Stromberg Model 40, a dual-downdraft carburetor, on a new intake manifold and a chastely steel crankshaft (an industry first) added another 10 horsepower in 1934.
Dear Sir:
While I still have breath in my lungs I will tell you what a dandy car you make. I have drove exclusively when I could get away with one. For sustained speed and freedom from trouble the Ford has got every other car skinned and even if my business hasn’t been strictly legal it don’t hurt anything to tell you what a dandy car you got in the Ford V-8.
Yours truly,
ClydeChampion Barrow
